[PICTURE: it may look like a pointless dark photo, but it shows how dim the On/UV lights are in the dark. Taken from above, front-angle.] Have had various air cleaners ranging from small wall outlet units to several brands/styles of tower designs. This is the biggest and fanciest unit we've had. It can move serious amounts of air, or run very quietly -- we do the latter and bought it since usually large fans can move more air with less noise and better sound tones. Indeed, this is the quietest filter fan we have on low speed (it's right behind us while watching TV and I feel no need to "OCD" turn it off / never notice it) and has no weird tones to it like many of the small-fan tower designs have/develop. The air sucks in all around the nice looking front so you can set it against a wall or corner and have the "correct" side facing into the room. Air vents out the top so it sorta radiates and blends into circulation rather than blowing at you or your stuff. The controls are responsive and easy to understand at a glance, makes a pointless but soft/pleasant noise when buttons are pressed, and my favorite part is you can turn off most of the lights using an included light button. At minimum, you have a single light indicating the unit is running, and a 2nd identical light if the UV bulb is on; both are small, dim, and indirect, not casting a blue spotlight on the ceiling like a lot of cheap consumer devices. I'd probably still tape them if sleeping but most people will probably find them very livable in a bedroom. If not used in a dark space or if you want a (blue... not great for eyes in the dark) night light, it also has an attractive "ring" light that bleeds through a translucent portion of the front plastic -- looks well designed/integrated, premium. The silver/white gloss finish is attractive and unlike the vast sea of shiny black plastic products, does not show fingerprints / dust at all. Does not develop an ugly "micro-scratch" texture either. All of which is to say... It doesn't just look nice the first 5 seconds before you smudge and scratch it getting it out of the box, but still looks brand new after months of use. The filter inside is about 2/3 the size of our AC air intake (a lot of filter...) and has a pre-filter you can vacuum off to extend the life of the expensive main filter. The filter fits snugly. I don't notice much gook collecting around its seams where air leaks by -- a problem on other units we've had. After 4 months running 24/7, the UV light hasn't burned out and the main filter looks good beneath the pre-filter which gets cleaned about every 2 months. Looking at the filter now, we'll probably get a full year out of it or more. I've had towers with finicky UV lights that burn out often and will report back if that ever becomes the case with this unit. The unit is set up next to the condo of a pair of small furry pets, in a house with renovations going all the time... so it has plenty to be extracting and is doing a great job so far. Smells and dust around it are noticeably better. As with all products like this, you may want to research the "ozone" output from the UV light and decide if that's good or bad for where you're placing the unit. Overall, this is my favorite air filter/UV cleaner we have had over the years. Quiet/pleasant, nice looking/looks last, well built, and can move serious amounts of air when you want it to. Though it's wider and surprisingly thick compared to tower designs, it's a much more efficient use of space / more cleaning for the volume than the tower designs -- if you can budget it and physically fit it.

I got my Germ Guardian 6 months ago and just recently my red light came in to change the filter. I was looking at the reviews on germguardianoutlet.com and saw that there were mixed reactions. I still purchased because some were positive and the price was better than other places! I’ve tried to touch on some of the concerning reviews I’ve seen and how my experience was similar/different. Packaging: The package appeared to be just as expected. Change in appearance: I saw a review that talked about how the filter Looked different and could be a knock off, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. My filter looked like it was good quality and there was an insert that talked about how the product was just redesigned to be efficient so it may look differently Installation: Installation was super easy and the machine had helpful labels. Frequency: I now know I should have been cleaning the black filter (not the white accordion filter) monthly so I’ll begin doing that. It recommends changing the entire filter every 6 months which is right when the light came on. Red to Green Light: I saw someone post that their light was still blinking - After changing the filter just hold down the UV button for about 5 seconds and it will reset the light. Overall, works great and many of the concerns I had previously from the reviews ended up being manageable! Save money and just purchase from germguardianoutlet.com. You can even set up automatic delivery for 6 months.

I’ve only had my air purifier for 10 days and it’s already collecting particles and pet hair! I moved into a new apt that had an old carpet & the previous renters had dogs. The pet dander and hair that was still coming up when I vacuumed made my allergies go crazy, every morning I woke up with puffy eyes and congestion. Now as long as I run this every night I wake up with no issues. I will say that the highest setting is pretty loud for my liking but absolutely worth it still. Excited to see what the filter looks like at day 30!

Won’t even turn on straight out of box. Followed all instructions.

I ordered four replacement bulbs for my GG1100B UV air filters and two arrived with the glass cracked near a soldered area where the glass meets metal. These happened to be the first two bulbs I opened and attempted to use as replacements. After tinkering with them in the filter and seeing they weren’t causing the same blue light ring in the front of the air filter, I went to remove them, noticed the bulbs were extremely hot and cracked near that soldered area. I tried the other bulbs to see if I had the same results and luckily I had success with them and they were not nearly as hot. Be wary of the bulbs you receive - with how hot the cracked bulbs had become after just a few seconds of testing, I am concerned they could be a serious fire hazard. (And they did produce light, but it was purplish on the otherwise blue ring, so there wouldn’t necessarily be a warning). Needless to say, I will be asking for replacement bulbs.

I thought I could use the GermGuardian SD495 in our bathroom, however when I opened the box, the dispenser is just too big for home use. The dispenser is almost 11" long (10.75") and about 5" across; pretty sizeable. So I decided to use it in the bathroom at the lodge. The dispenser comes with 3 different pump heads. Each one is designed to handle a different consistency of liquid; gel, liquid or foaming. With the local store having large containers of liquid soap, that's what we went with. The dispenser uses 4 AA batteries (not included). There is a switch inside that can be set for a single shot or a double shot of soap per cycle. I would think the amount it dispenses would vary by the product used. The GermGuardian looks like a soap dispenser you'd see in any store or restaurant bathroom. It is a quality product designed to last many years. They include the mounting screws and a plastic key (used to open the front door). There's a place on the side to plug a 6 volt DC battery adaptor. Looking through the instructions, I could find no mention of this anywhere. I give the GermGuardian soap dispenser ⭐⭐⭐⭐. It works very well and the price is reasonable. I took off one star as I haven't had it long enough to judge its durability (how long it lasts). If you have a need for a commercial quality hands free soap dispenser, the GermGuardian deserves your consideration.

This unit is large but easy to move around if needed. The purifier has four different fan speeds, at it's lowest it doesn't really make any noise and at it's highest you can basically hear it across the house. I like to leave it in auto mode. This mode will actively monitor your air quality and adjust the fan speed based on the amount of pollutants detected. The LCD screen will show you your air quality, which usually stays at 1 for me. There is also a colored ring light that also gives you a quick air quality measurement (green for good, yellow for ok, red for bad). As a test, I used an air cleaner to clean out dust from my computer case in the same room as the purifier. Within a minute, that number that usually stays at 1 shot up to about 250 and kicked into high gear. Within about 15 minutes, the purifier got the air quality back down to 1, with the fan slowing down in steps until the air was sufficiently clean and it could return to it's noise free state. The purifier also features a sleep mode that will turn off all the lights and run silent. I have not tried out the ozone safe ionizer feature yet since it's winter and there aren't many allergens floating around. Come spring, I'll be sure to test this feature out. The purifier also has a UV light to help kill germs, viruses, etc. Finally, this purifier also features a timer that can be set to 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours. It also has a child lock. Overall, we have felt a huge difference in our household air quality. Less odors after cooking and less sneezing when we still had some pollen floating around. This also brings peace of mind with cold and flu season coming up!

Let me save you some time… I have tried many different brands of filters for my Germguardian air purifier. These are by far the worst I’ve ever ordered. I ordered a package of 4 and they were SO flimsy that even in original packaging they would just flop over. Not to mention that I was completely disappointed in the customer service provided by the Germguardian company. So instead of going through the hassle I have of trying all of the different brands, I stick with VEVA brand only!! Great product, great service and good price. If this has helped you please let me know.

The unit comes in two different models both units work fine except the manual dial unit has three speeds Vs the digital display unit has five fan speeds. The fans speeds on both models are not quite except for the lowest speed setting.

I really have to love a product to give it five stars. I really, really love this air purifier. We have a very large master suite that houses me and my husband and then my two toddlers are in the "sitting area" of the master suite. We also have two cats who never leave the master suite and no matter how often I clean the litter box in the bathroom there is always somewhat of a litter smell and I absolutely hate it. Granted, it was cut down to almost nothing when we started running the Oreck air purifier in our bedroom but I have a very sensitive nose and there was still some odor left over. This has literally eliminated the odors from the master suite. I also love the night light. We have this placed in the sitting area of the master suite, or what we refer to as the toddler area where the two toddlers sleep, and the night light/light show is adorable. There are three colors including blue, green, and white, and three different disks each with its own theme. You can have the machine rotate between the three colors or pick one for it to stay on. I prefer the blue color with the star/moon theme. It's not too bright and its calming but gives enough light so that my daughter who is going through the "I'm afraid of the dark" phase is pacified without interrupting our sleep on the other side of the suite. The white noise also helps them sleep, which is a huge plus. You'll need to replace the charcoal filter about every six months and the HEPA filter every 6 to 12 months (depending on your home). I was surprised at how affordable I could find the replacement filters for (less than $20, unlike the Oreck which is $49 a filter). The UV bulb also needs to be changed about once a year, maybe a little more frequently depending on how often you use it. I can definitely tell there is a difference in the air quality since putting this in. Another thing I like about it is that it has a rather small footprint so doesn't take up too much space. The unit measures about a foot tall and about 8 inches wide and deep (a little deeper than it is wide); If you are looking for a quality air filter with an adorable nightlight feature that doesn't take up a lot of space, I highly suggest this unit. I actually like it a lot better than the Austin Air Healthmate Jr that I purchased a couple of years ago for about four times this price.

I just bought my 3rd unit. This photo is from 3 months of use, running all day, everyday. We live in a dry area, lots of dirt sometimes. But I’ve got 2 indoor cats and sometimes the dogs come in. This is what we don’t breath in because this wonderful machine works.

This is a really nice, quality air purifier. It has some weight to it. Easy, clear instructions. It has a UV light to kill germs. It filters mold spores, pet dander, free radicals etc. Also, the cherry on top for me is its small size. So, if you have an RV it's perfect. It has a medium, slim ish build so it doesn't take up a lot of space. To be noted, this air purifier is also very quiet, so that is a huge plus.

Seems to be working great, quiet too!
