  • This is the third time I have bought this bulb, Now all of a sudden they are almost half the size… So are we getting half of the air cleaning?? The price didn’t go down. I do love the unit and the ease of not having to use filters but getting half the bulb makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off

  • Replacement filters arrived in brown boxes instead of the ones shown and the quality of the filter is not as nice as the ones I replaced. The black foam that you vacuum to extend the life of the filter isn't as sturdy as the ones I have purchased in the past and I'm afraid these will tear when vacuuming. As expensive as these filters are, I would rather pay a few dollars more for the same quality we've had than the same amount for lower quality.

  • The desktop germ guardian is fairly compact, sleek and easy to move room to room if needed. On high setting (#3) you definitely know it’s there but it does move a good amount of air, Settings two and one are pretty quiet I think and you can still feel the airflow. At first use with the UV light on you’ll smell a slight ozone smell but goes away after a few hours. I originally bought the germ guardian tower air purifier with UV light and was incredibly happy with it I’ve since bought this desktop air purifier and also a plug in automatic UV odor eliminator from germ guardian and am very happy with all products! We have forced air heating in our home and live where it’s winter near 6 months of the year and even tho I keep up on quality air filters for our forced air unit it’s simply just not enough with a family of 4 with 1 cat. I run this desktop air purifier throughout the day periodically with the UV light on then at night time in my child’s room on low setting with the UV light off and in the morning the air in there room smells and feels clean and fresh, we also use it in our teenagers room who has a gaming pc he’s on for hours at a time, with how teenage boys rooms smell this little desktop air purifier takes care of all the boy odor and has cut down on dust dramatically. Every unit I’ve purchased from germ guardian has been phenomenal so far, ready to use out of the box just follow instructions provided, make sure filter is installed correctly, plug into wall and you’re good to go! 11/10 recommend!

  • Since I’ve used this in my bedroom, I haven’t woken up stuffed up and sneezing! I’ve suffered from allergies since I was a child and am severely allergic to mold and dust. I’ve tried air purifiers in the past but never felt they made a difference. This is the first time I can say that I truly see a reduction in my allergy symptoms at night and in the morning from using this in my bedroom, which is a large room. I also like the fact that the filters keep the air fresh which is great as I let my dog sleep in my room. I highly recommend this product!

  • The apartment I live in is very dry and I used to wake me up. Since I got this one, things are so much better. According to the internet the humidity should be between 40 and 50 percent. I have a weather station that reads humidity, before getting this humidity was only seventeen percent now I keep it about 50 percent. and can increase or decrease as needed by adjusting the output. This is a lifesaver. UPDATE; I have learned that if the humidity outside high you can turn down the amount of output, and the opposite if the humidity is low. UPDATE 2: I pulled my two humidifiers out of storage for the winter, the one in the pic was making a awful noise and not sending out any mist, so thinking it might mean that I need to replace it. Here's the thing, since I thought it was failing I looked for a replacement, but then thought I would add some vinegar to to see if it would help, because you can use it to clean a coffee pot, it worked! Being not overly rich I sometimes try a fix if it seems that the product is on it's way out. By the way, I used about 1/4 cup of white vinegar when I filled the tank . New update: Took my own advice, and this time took the humidifier out of storage and completely cleaned it before storing it. I filled them I have two they were working fine until today, I got these in 2018 and forgot my own advice, so after filling I added vinegar and started them again, they came back to life again. w

  • So this was an easy set up. Just plug it in. Once I downloaded the Aria app, and set it up with my home wi-fi, it said it needed to be updated. I tapped on update on the app, but it wouldn't update. It takes about 100 seconds to update, appears to be updating, but then it still says an update is needed. It also comes with minimal instructions outside of how to set up the WiFi and pair it. There's a manual scan and an automatic scan to pair it. The only 2 items that are available to choose from are a tower fan and something else, on the auto scan but after several tries it did finally let me choose the AQI to pair on auto scan . If your display is green then air quality is good, if it changes to orange, it's fair, and red is poor. Here's where my biggest complaint is. First of all the orange and red display are difficult to see, unless you're really close to the unit. Second is that it goes from green, good air quality to orange or red in a nano second. And it does so everytime I spray anything in the room. Lysol, perfume, deodorant, etc, will make it go from good (green) to red in a heartbeat. My dog and cats jump on my bed a lot so I spray Lysol or fabric freshener on my bed linens often and that should not cause my Voc's to go from good to poor. Lysol is supposed to clean the air , so why the unit reads it as dangerous is strange. I like that it gives you the relative humidity in the room as well as temperature but I'm not sure if I trust what I'm reading. My bedroom is the coldest in the house because I've got a portable AC in addition to my central AC in my room because of menopause I like to keep my room colder. But it always shows the temperature in my room at 73 to 74 but my thermostat in the house is always at 72, but you can feel a big difference in temperature from my bedroom to the rest of the house. There is one button on the front of the unit that once pressed it switches it from indoor to outdoor. Again, no way to check the accuracy unless I check the local weather logistics for my area . So a lot of "uncertains" with this unit. Can I believe what I'm reading? Don't know unless I get another unit for comparison. I tend to Lean more towards it being less than accurate.

  • This unit is being used for an area of about 950+ sq. ft. We had previously purchased a smaller GermGuardian Air Purifier for our bedroom and it had digital readouts of ppm particles, timers, 5-speed fan, and other superb features all that can be controlled from iPhone connection. However, its "big sister" is not nearly as sophisticated. There are NO digital readouts of any sort. A manual pre-set timer system (1-2-4-8 hours on only). Only a 3-speed fan. (quiet, moderately quiet, and noisy). The only indicator of good, moderate, or poor air quality is the lighted circle on the front that changes colors. No sort of numerical particulate per million (ppm) readout at all. I knew when I bought it that there was no iPhone connection, but had I realized just how simplistic this purifier was, I probably would have bought an alternate product that had more digital capabilities and for not that much more money. However, so far, it seems to be doing a good job. Time will tell.

  • We love our Germ Guardian (AC4825E). I run it 24/7 it helps cut down a little on the dust, plus we have a dog. There are 5 fan speeds, which also increase in sound, but that isn't a problem for us because it also works as a nice sound mask (i.e. noise cancellation), we have high ceilings and sound travels up to our loft where we keep the air purifier. The filters are easy to replace and when you replace them you will see what the purifier is sucking out of the air, proof that it works. One thing of note, it beeps when the air filter needs replaced and a red light comes on the unit and an error message reading: "replace filter". Once you replace the filter it continues to beep, which is very frustrating, however if you take a pin and push it into the hole under the word HEPA Reset and hold it for a second, it will turn off the beep and you are good to go.

  • You need a fine point Phillip's screw driver to get cover off. Hepa filter carbon filter uv lamp are almost the cost of the unit. caveat emptor

  • I like that it easy to use and it is quiet. It has 4 speeds and it has a air quality sensor. The sleep mode runs quietly all night. It os easy to replace the filter.

  • A+ HEPA filter air purifier system! I have come to trust the name Germ Guardian over the past couple years. I own a smaller version from this company that I have been using for over two years now with absolutely no issues. It literally runs 24/7. I was excited to add this bigger version to my living environment. Boy can you tell a difference with them running. Air definitely is cleaner and fresher. You can also turn the UV-C light on to help kill bacteria and germs. There is some debate out there on whether this is healthy or not for you, due to possible byproduct it may create. I don’t run the light all the time but it is nice to have when I’m sick or have an odor I need to kill. This unit moves a good amount of air. Has a light indicator on the front for when the light/germ killer is turned on. Filter/pre-filter seems to be a good quality. You can remove the pre-filter to clean it to help prolong the main filter. You can also buy replacement filters here on germguardianoutlet.com for this unit, as well as replacement bulbs. Depending on the speed you have it set to affects the sound level....which none of them are bad. It becomes a white noise in the room. I sleep with it’s within 6 feet of my head. Does not bother me. This unit also has a very stylish look to it. Very well pleased. Would buy another one of these in a heartbeat.

  • Much noisier than my old air purifier from a different company. My old one was 10+ Years old and I could no longer get replacement filters for it. Got this smaller size for bedroom but even on level 1 it is noisy. I will try it for a couple nights but not impressed so far. Buyer beware: you cannot return this on germguardianoutlet.com. Had I known this I would have bought directly from germgardian.

  • Exactlyyyy like the original filter ,fits perfectly

  • This was the first time replacing the bulb in my Germ Guardian AC5000 Air Cleaner. I've had the unit for 15 months and have had it running almost constantly, but not always with the UV light on. The filter provided what I was in most need of - clearing dust and allergens from the air. Using the UV light to destroy bacteria, viruses, germs and mold spores was equally important, but, as others have said, if you have the unit running in your bedroom, the blue light is bright and annoying. Eventually, I moved the unit out to my living room and turned the light on. Using the UV light gave me a better feeling about the air in my apartment. It was on almost all the time- close to 24/7. I'd say that I got a good 10 months of practically continuous use out of the original bulb. Replacing the bulb is easy enough, just follow the directions provided in the manual, which is available online. UNPLUG the unit. Remove the back cover and the filter. You'll need a Philips head screwdriver to remove the metal plate covering the rear of the bulb. Using a soft cloth to grasp the bulb, give it a 1/4 turn - you'll see the pins become visible in the small opening at the top of the bulb. Once you've got that, the rest is simple. Gently pull the bulb straight out. Place it inside the tube that the new bulb arrived in. (Very sturdy cardboard tube!) Slip the new bulb in, turn it 1/4 turn to lock it in place. Replace the metal plate and screws. Vacuum your charcoal filter while you have it out, replace it and snap the cover in place. (It will not operate until the cover is in place.) When you turn the unit on, the bulb may or may not be flashing. To reset it, simply hold the power button down for 3-4 seconds. All set! I was a little intimidated by reading some of the other reviews... so I hope this is helpful. If the bulb doesn't work, contact germguardianoutlet.com for instructions on replacing. Good Luck! July 21, 2016 Update -addressing a question about where blue light shows: You should see the large blue V shaped light right below the chrome panel, which indicates the UV light is turned on, and through the screened vent in front you can only see a small sliver of blue light. Best to look at the whole unit in the dark - the UV light glows slightly through the vents in front and back. Not bright blue, just a faint glow - turn UV off and on again, you'll see it. Keep in mind that the UV is not meant to be shining out at you - its surrounded by metal and filters to treat the air in that small space as it passes through.

  • Models of household air cleaners appear are proliferating and recently many of these have been based on cylindrical filters. Of these cylindrical or concentric filter designs, many are oversold: some show an indicator light when you press a button for UV but no sign of an actual method of producing UV radiation. Others claim or imply activated charcoal filtration but have no visible layer of charcoal in their filter path. Some are coyly pictured without nearby household objects and turn out to be tiny desktop models. Most of these are presumably effective as air-cleaners of whatever capacity they can honestly claim, but they are marketed in a misleading way. I wanted to say that this unit is different but I am not sure it is 100% different; some thinly supported claims still seem to have slipped through the cracks. I assume that airflow claims are accurate: these, or so-called "Clean Air Delivery Rate" for various particulate contaminates, are certified by something called the AHAM (Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers), an industry group with an office in Washington, D.C. which claims to have been around since 1967. They certify only this delivery rate spec for air cleaners, and have English and Chinese version of the website. I will also assume the claims to UV irradiation are based in reality, as the unit has a consumer replaceable UV bulb in the base (you can be sure that units which claim UV with no consumable bulb are not doing what they say they are going to do), though it's not clear where the associated (and claimed) layer of titanium dioxide is found. But what about activated carbon? Is this claimed? Yes. "Carbon" pre-filters in replacement four packs are advertised in the instruction book, and outer box marketing clearly claims "activated carbon"; yet the velcro-attached pre-filter layer appears to be a simple black plastic mesh, and shows no evidence of entrapped carbon particles. As for the ionization feature, I cannot judge. I hear no high-frequency whine nor detect an added odor of ozone when engaged: not conclusive, but neither is it convincing. An obvious problem with dubious claims and half-claims and implied claims is that it erodes the relationship of trust, which is a shame since engineers have evidently put a considerable amount of design effort into this product and there is little reason to doubt that it does its basic job of particulate removal well. The unit has a digital display of particulate air quality, an automatic mode, adjusting fan speed to air quality, a time function and a sleep (dark) mode, standard features on many similar units: it is pleasant to look at and be near when operating. But marketing seems to have carried over some weak claims from similar recent models out of habit: habitual behaviors are not a problems of any one particular economic or political system, but will persist until the will exists to change them. Summary: This appears to be a decent air cleaner with useful capacity in a consumer-friendly package. Efficacy of claimed extra air cleaning/purification modes beyond basic HEPA filtration require further evaluation. The activated carbon claim in particular seems questionable.
