The Germ Guardian True HEPA Filter Air Purifier is a good choice for smaller rooms, but it’s not the best that I’ve tried.

PROS:
It has a HEPA filter to capture ultra-fine particles.
At less than 8 pounds, it’s easily portable and can be moved from room to room.
Three-speed settings – lower speeds are quieter.
Pre-filter can be cleaned.
Removes pollen, smoke, dust, odors and can be set to kill some germs.

CONS:
Cost of replacing the HEPA filter (this is true for all air purifiers) every 6-8 months.
Pre-filter requires cleaning (this is true of all air purifiers).
Noisier than our Honeywell.
It doesn’t seem as efficient at cleaning the air when on ‘Low’ as our older Honeywell model.

A+ HEPA filter air purifier system! I have come to trust the name Germ Guardian over the past couple years. I own a smaller version from this company that I have been using for over two years now with absolutely no issues. It literally runs 24/7. I was excited to add this bigger version to my living environment. Boy can you tell a difference with them running. Air definitely is cleaner and fresher. You can also turn the UV-C light on to help kill bacteria and germs. There is some debate out there on whether this is healthy or not for you, due to possible byproduct it may create. I don’t run the light all the time but it is nice to have when I’m sick or have an odor I need to kill. This unit moves a good amount of air. Has a light indicator on the front for when the light/germ killer is turned on. Filter/pre-filter seems to be a good quality. You can remove the pre-filter to clean it to help prolong the main filter. You can also buy replacement filters here on germguardianoutlet.com for this unit, as well as replacement bulbs. Depending on the speed you have it set to affects the sound level….which none of them are bad. It becomes a white noise in the room. I sleep with it’s within 6 feet of my head. Does not bother me. This unit also has a very stylish look to it. Very well pleased. Would buy another one of these in a heartbeat.

I have two other air purifiers by this company and this one is by far the loudest. It also has zero sophistication – the others tell you how many particulates are in the air so you can get a sense of how they are working. This feels like “budget” from top to bottom, with a cheap switch and the aforementioned loud plastic fan.
