   I love that this comes with a charcoal filter (to help with odors) while I find that this germ killing machine gets rid of most odors, this will boost it’s capabilities. I have one in every room. I think every medical office doctors waiting room should have one of the germ killing machines that this goes to. They really work! I don’t catch the flu when sick ppl come to visit! And I have a portable one made by the same company that I wear so, I don’t have to worry that some inconsiderate person will be out and about spreading their cold, flu, virus germs around for me to catch.

   I purchased this a few months back and it was a big bulky packaged and I still needed to wash the filter. Now the new packaging is smaller and it comes with a replacement filter as well.

   Supposedly this new replacement bulb is to last 1 year. I just replaced mine about 6 months ago. So I’m keeping an eye on this to make sure it was just a fluke that it lasted only 6 months. The replacements are not cheap but the air in the room smells so much better with the Germ Guardian.

   I have owned both the large and the small Germ Gaurdian units. Both units have worked well and I feel safer breathing the air inside my home as I know that as long as the units are on the air is free from many of the bacteria that can cause sickness. I and my family have noticed far fewer colds during the year and far less nasal and throat problems since operating the units in our house. The savings in not having to go to the doctor for antibiotics alone have paid for the units many times over…and we don’t have to deal with down time due to illness. We have had to replace the bulbs in the units but only after a year or so of continious use.

   Bought this ti replace a working older unit from original purchase.
   Unit ws acquired so long ago I hardly remember when but better than 10 years ago.
   Used quite a bit so I knew it wouldn’t last much longer. Started to use again due to Covid19.
   Sure enough the ORIGINAL LAMP failed. I was happy I ordered ahead of time, however, I barely got >10hrs service before the lamp failed. It started changing color so I knew something wasn’t right. A short time later the lamp failed. It was inexpensive at the time but considering how long the lamp can last, 10 hours was not normal service life and I know I did not get my moneys worth.
   Perhaps the lamp was damaged during shipping. There was no physical damage to pakaging and I know how to handle these carefully but I suggest that as the company is reputable. I may try again as a pair of Chinese knockoffs were DOA.

   Also had a lot of trouble with the Replacement bulbs. Found if I ordered thru germguardianoutlet.com, which sends the bulbs from Germ Guardian….they do work, and for a long time. Evidently, they are now procuring them from a different manufacturer….and I definitely see a big difference in the bulb.

   The Germ Guardian itself is a terrific, compact unit, and have never had any fault with that. Have three of them in my home, and the difference is remarkable. The fact that they are quiet is a huge advantage. Have had other brands and quite noisy. I can carry this one with me to hotels, when I travel and is very light and convenient.

   Have three of them in my home, and recently had severe brush fires in my neighborhood, but the smoke smell which was just outside my door, was dispelled immediately in my home. Please don’t change manufacturers.

   Filters can be cleaned so they are not my priority — just nice to have. The bulbs however are essential and others I have tried just do not hold up over time. These systems are run continually in my home and the bulbs literally have lasted for years. It has been worth the money to pay extra to get a quality, long lasting bulb.

   Given that the particular model this was made for is obsolete, I was very happy to find this at a much reduced price on germguardianoutlet.com. We are sold on Germ Guardian products. They have proven to be very reliable and stand up to the test of time. We will probably purchase a couple more just so that we have them — I am guessing that they may not be on the market much longer.
