   I’ve only had my air purifier for 10 days and it’s already collecting particles and pet hair! I moved into a new apt that had an old carpet & the previous renters had dogs. The pet dander and hair that was still coming up when I vacuumed made my allergies go crazy, every morning I woke up with puffy eyes and congestion. Now as long as I run this every night I wake up with no issues. I will say that the highest setting is pretty loud for my liking but absolutely worth it still. Excited to see what the filter looks like at day 30!

Taken from above, front-angle.] Have had various air cleaners ranging from small wall outlet units to several brands/styles of tower designs. This is the biggest and fanciest unit we’ve had. It can move serious amounts of air, or run very quietly — we do the latter and bought it since usually large fans can move more air with less noise and better sound tones. Indeed, this is the quietest filter fan we have on low speed (it’s right behind us while watching TV and I feel no need to “OCD” turn it off / never notice it) and has no weird tones to it like many of the small-fan tower designs have/develop. The air sucks in all around the nice looking front so you can set it against a wall or corner and have the “correct” side facing into the room. Air vents out the top so it sorta radiates and blends into circulation rather than blowing at you or your stuff. The controls are responsive and easy to understand at a glance, makes a pointless but soft/pleasant noise when buttons are pressed, and my favorite part is you can turn off most of the lights using an included light button. At minimum, you have a single light indicating the unit is running, and a 2nd identical light if the UV bulb is on; both are small, dim, and indirect, not casting a blue spotlight on the ceiling like a lot of cheap consumer devices. I’d probably still tape them if sleeping but most people will probably find them very livable in a bedroom. If not used in a dark space or if you want a (blue… not great for eyes in the dark) night light, it also has an attractive “ring” light that bleeds through a translucent portion of the front plastic — looks well designed/integrated, premium. The silver/white gloss finish is attractive and unlike the vast sea of shiny black plastic products, does not show fingerprints / dust at all. Does not develop an ugly “micro-scratch” texture either. All of which is to say… It doesn’t just look nice the first 5 seconds before you smudge and scratch it getting it out of the box, but still looks brand new after months of use. The filter inside is about 2/3 the size of our AC air intake (a lot of filter…) and has a pre-filter you can vacuum off to extend the life of the expensive main filter. The filter fits snugly. I don’t notice much gook collecting around its seams where air leaks by — a problem on other units we’ve had. After 4 months running 24/7, the UV light hasn’t burned out and the main filter looks good beneath the pre-filter which gets cleaned about every 2 months. Looking at the filter now, we’ll probably get a full year out of it or more. I’ve had towers with finicky UV lights that burn out often and will report back if that ever becomes the case with this unit. The unit is set up next to the condo of a pair of small furry pets, in a house with renovations going all the time… so it has plenty to be extracting and is doing a great job so far. Smells and dust around it are noticeably better. As with all products like this, you may want to research the “ozone” output from the UV light and decide if that’s good or bad for where you’re placing the unit. Overall, this is my favorite air filter/UV cleaner we have had over the years. Quiet/pleasant, nice looking/looks last, well built, and can move serious amounts of air when you want it to. Though it’s wider and surprisingly thick compared to tower designs, it’s a much more efficient use of space / more cleaning for the volume than the tower designs — if you can budget it and physically fit it.

   We purchased this unit in early 2020, and it was a great unit for us (albeit a little loud) sucking up all the cat hair and various allergy causing dust particles in the air, until it suddenly died a few days ago. I came to look at reviews to see if others experienced the same issue, and it looks to be a common issue, especially after changing the filter. We had also just changed the filter a few days earlier. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a super helpful review about reseating the front panel because of the safety mechanism. I found the safety mechanism: a long black button on the bottom of the left side of where the filter is installed and two magnets that hold the front cover in the place. If you install the filter and it happens not to be tight enough to keep the black button depressed, the unit may turn on and off or just off altogether. It looks like unit is completely dead, instead of telling you that there is a filter installation issue. I took a piece of thick paper, folded it up, pushed it over the button, and then reinstalled the filter. As soon as I re-engaged the cover, it played the chimes, and I knew it was working again. It’s been working fine since. This definitely seems like a design issue. Just happy to have found a solution. I hope this is helpful to others whose unit complexly died on them.

   I have 9 Cockatiels and they make a lot of air born mess from feature sheathing which is fine stuff that comes off them 24/7, I have 2 of these, these work great, you can tell after a week when you open the cover and the black filter is now white, vacuums off ok-ish but certainly stops me form sneezing, stops the birds too, would defiantly fill my house with these if I had the chance, one is in a 950 sq foot living room, the other is is a 450 sq foot bed room,. work great in both.

   I’m extremely impressed with this air purifier. I have 2 in my 1600 sq ft home, and it keeps my house from smelling like cig smoke, even with a smoker in the house. My house smells fresh now and I’m so happy about that! Bonus that I don’t wake up every morning with stuffy nose. I’m very pleased.

   Having been cross-contaminated accidentally by a family member fleeing their mold ridden house, this air purifier has done an excellent job helping to filter out the spores and mycotoxins. We continuously run it mostly in our bedroom but will alternate it in the various rooms in our home. Very pleased with it and highly recommend.

   Have purchased multiple different models from Germ guardian. Giving this one 4 stars only due to the life span. Purchased this one early 2020. After less then 5 years it started to malfunction. The LED’s on the display would turn off. The fan would set itself to speed 3, even if it was on speed one or two, stay that way for one minute then the purifier would shut itself off. Trying the machine on different outlets, the same thing would occur but it would be random. Sometimes it would happen daily or once a week. I have purchased 2 4250pt purifiers the same year and even a 4100 + 4900ca from 2016 and they still run strong to this day with no issues.

   This unit is being used for an area of about 950+ sq. ft. We had previously purchased a smaller GermGuardian Air Purifier for our bedroom and it had digital readouts of ppm particles, timers, 5-speed fan, and other superb features all that can be controlled from iPhone connection. However, its “big sister” is not nearly as sophisticated. There are NO digital readouts of any sort. A manual pre-set timer system (1-2-4-8 hours on only). Only a 3-speed fan. (quiet, moderately quiet, and noisy). The only indicator of good, moderate, or poor air quality is the lighted circle on the front that changes colors. No sort of numerical particulate per million (ppm) readout at all. I knew when I bought it that there was no iPhone connection, but had I realized just how simplistic this purifier was, I probably would have bought an alternate product that had more digital capabilities and for not that much more money. However, so far, it seems to be doing a good job. Time will tell.
